I wrote yesterdays post twice & managed to wipe it twice. No idea how! Basically we went as far west as you can on the British mainland to Ardamurchan Point, which was worth the long slow drive. I could just about see Tiree which always makes me happy. It was windy & sunny. It was great. Then we went to Sanna Bay which I have read is one of the top ten beaches in the UK. No it’s not, well not in our opinion anyway & we know some GREAT wild beaches. It wouldn’t make our top 50 but that list will never be published! It was a bit of a let down, don’t get me wrong the beach was ok, the view ok but really nothing to rave about. I think the ‘crofting community’ which clearly most of it was not need to get a grip as well!
So we went, we saw, we won’t be back. We camped at a good campsite though, Resipol Farm. Great location on Loch Sunnart, good facs. Nice people. It would be a good stop off en route to a Skye Ferry, avoiding the haul through & horrors of Fort William.
Today was…… v v v wet.
Managed a visit to New Lanark Mills which was good & worthy of a return in better weather. I may have purchased few ‘bin ends’ of aran & chunky weight yarn! That Robert Owen was clearly quite a guy!
We are now near Carlisle. A really lovely hidden gem of a Caravan Club site. Fine for a night or two. Especially on the way up to or from Scotland. Would also be good for exploring the western end of Hadrian’s Wall.
Anyway,home tomorrow. Jersey next Friday!
